In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest is Richard Tate. Richard Tate is currently the Head Coach for Bartow Highschool located in Polk County Florida. This was a great interview. Tate is the Son of a former College and Pro Football Coach. Coach Tate was an assistant at Bartow under his brother from ’89-’04. Coach Tate has a strong reputation within the community with winning and has shown the ability to turn around programs with what he’s done at Bartow, Ridge, and Kathleen. Tate stayed at Kathleen through 2003, winning a district title, then left and was Ridge Community’s first head coach when the school opened in 2005. He left Ridge after eight seasons that included three playoff berths and two district titles and was head coach at George Jenkins for three seasons before returning to Ridge in 2016. He led the Bolts to two more playoff berths before going 4-6 this past season. Tate says winning games at times is easy to him because that’s all he knows. That might sound arrogant to people, but in the grand scheme of things, football is easy because it’s not that important when you look at life. He just want the kids to know that I’m there to love on them. Tate wants to help them get to college. Coach Tate wants to help them live out there dreams. Whatever it is, Coach Tate want to be there to help them.
